Monterey County COVID Collaborative helps finding testing sites easier

In the first nine days of January, the VIDA project, which is funded by Monterey County and administered by the Community Foundation for Monterey County, tested 2,688 people for COVID-19. That is 33% more than they tested in the entire month of December, according to Kim Stemler, spokeswoman for the Monterey County COVID Collaborative.

Of those 2,688 tested, 624 were positive for COVID-19, or 23%. Stemler said that this prevalence makes testing and the sharing of testing sites even more important.

The demand for tests is resulting in long wait times and leading to shortages of kits, and frustration for those with kids going back to school or returning to work
